This was a private project to create a high performance home in the countryside for minimal cost. The project brief was to design something that would blend into the surrounding farmland and would convince the heritage consultants and conservation officer at the council that it would compliment the landscape and not detract from it.
An array of exciting materials were used to give the simple design character and charm as well as ensuring the structure was functional and easy to maintain. Zinc cladding wraps the outside of the house, whilst concrete floors, and warm oak is a strong feature for the interiors. Air Source Heat Pumps and super insulation ensures this house is cheap to run, cosy in the winter and cool and peaceful in the summer months.
